Some of you might know that i kind of despise the cheap and shallow discussion on Business Intelligence....BI 2.0 (sigh), 'we need google functionality', blablabla. Or even the meaningless dicussion on the definition of business intelligence. Wake up.....
I am reading a book now (Thx Egbert!!!) that is really getting the point across; the degree in which an organisation is able to utilize its information to its maximum extent, is in more and more branches the real differentitating factor in competing with your competitors....damn, this sentence aint very good..hope u all uderstand it?
I used the underlying thesis, written by Thomas Davenport for 2 years now in my masterclasses, but finally 'The Book'. And, yes, i am impressed.
Competing on Analytics: The New Science of Winning By Thomas H. Davenport and Jeanne G. Harris
This book is great and it really shows the added value information and analytics on it, the pre-requisites for getting to an 'analytical company' (like blood in veins, analytics should be in the 'blood' of any company).
Get rid of 'Business Intelligence', lets translate it to real terms...read this book peeps. Great book.
